Vultures Protest in Shipley
Activists from Leeds Tidal and Harrogate and Knaresborough JDC met with campaigners from Shipley to protest outside Mr Davies office. Mr Davies also faced a barrage of emails from dismayed campaigners overnight – to which he replied to almost all saying that the Speaker of the House of Commons had not accepted the amendment. Campaigners were delighted that the amendment was dropped – especially as the same amendment had already been discussed at the bill’s committee stage and withdrawn. All along campaigners believed the whole purpose of the amendment was not to scrutinise the bill but to wreck it.
Debt activists from across Yorkshire gathered in Shipley today to protest the fact that Philip Davies MP tabled a amendment to the Vulture Funds Bill which would have had the effect of killing the bill.
