JANUARY

  • 17th - Birmingham JDC Annual General Meeting
    Nick Dearden, Director of Jubilee Debt Campaign, will speak on the campaign for an International Debt Court, which would provide a fair way of settling questions of international debt in the future. Venue: The Midland Cooperative Society in the Birmingham Midland Institute, 9 Margaret Street, Birmingham B3 3BS. 6.40pm Bring and share meal. 7.20pm Meeting begins.

  • 31st - Film night: Take Back Our Economy: Making it work for the 99%
    6 Billion Ways presents an evening of informative and inspirational films and analysis about the economic crisis and what we, the 99%, are doing about it. From 6.30pm at Rich Mix in London.

FEBRUARY

  • 2nd - Dharmic Faith’s Conference on Debt, Birmingham
    As part of Interfaith Harmony Week the JDC Multi-Faith project is organising an event for the Dharmic Faiths – Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Zorastian – to share their faith perspective on global poverty and debt. Chairman Rev Prof Michael Taylor and speakers from each of Dharmic faiths including Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh. 10.30am-3.30pm, The Nishkam Centre, 6 Soho Road, Birmingham B21 9BH.   • 17th - An Economy for the 99%:  Ideas, stories and tactics from around the world
    What would an economy that really worked in the interests of people look like? This day of debates, workshops and skill sharing will bring together activists from Manchester, Europe and beyond to share ideas for building economic justice movements across the world. Free event organised by Jubilee Debt Campaign and World Development Movement in association with 6 Billion Ways.
