Bangladesh rejects DFIDs World Bank proposal
15 January 2010
Campaigners protested outside DIFD against plans that climate debt relief would be channelled through the World Bank, ultimately creating more loan.
Earlier this morning the Jubilee Debt Campaign along with WDM and other civil society groups staged a protest outside the Department for International Development in opposition to plans for climate finance that could lock Bangladesh in more debt.
Both Bangladeshi civil society groups and the government are rejecting the current package amid concerns that it will be controlled by the undemocratic and unaccountable World Bank. See links below for more details.
