Journey to Justice - Primary Assembly
This set of resources for assemblies includes a very visual presentation aimed at younger learners, stories, songs, and reflections. It has been prepared by Jubilee Debt Campaign for use in Birmingham Primary Schools in May 2008, marking the tenth anniversary of the 70,000-strong chain around Birmingham. However, it can of course be used after this date, and by schools elsewhere, with minor modifications.
Presentations on Debt and Women, Debt and Climate Change, Debt and Health and Debt and Public Services are now available. Each one accompanies a more detailed briefing of the same name (see the Debt and... section) but can be used independently. Each presentation is a short, sharp look at one aspect of life in poor countries affected by debt.
A simple introduction to debt issues, showing the links between debt and poverty, the progress made because of debt cancellation, and how taking action can help.
Suitable for assemblies or the classroom, this would be a great way for a school to launch their involvement in the Jubilee Schools programme.
