Our Vulture Funds campaign has led to the UK introducing the world's first law clamping down on companies that profiteer from the debts of the world's poorest countries.
Following three years of campaigning, the law was passed - for an initial twelve months - just before the 2010 general election. Then in March 2011 the UK Government announced it would make the law permanent. More >>
Still circling
But the law does not apply to Jersey and other UK Overseas Territories where globalised financial companies tend to have a base to avoid public scrutiny.
In November US-based debt vulture FG Hemisphere swooped in a Jersey court and was awarded $100 million from the central African country Democratic Republic of Congo, where millions of people live in extreme poverty. More >>
