Former French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde has been appointed head of the International Monetary Fund after private interviews for one of the world’s most powerful jobs.

Millions of people around the world are affected by the impact of the IMF’s loan conditions and economic ‘advice’, yet there was no opportunity for anyone outside the global financial elite to question her in detail and in public.
Christine Lagarde does not have a good record of looking out for the interests of the world’s poor, and there are serious issues about the IMF’s future following the global financial crisis. (Read more)
